There has been a rash of bloggers and mainstream media members alike who have been summarizing the New York career of Pedro Martinez. While he has indicated a desire to return to Flushing, the Mets’ brass seems reluctant to give another contract to Martinez. The initial contract signed by Pedro included a fourth year that the Red Sox would not give, but even though most Mets fans, employees, and beat writers  felt that the fourth year of the contract would yield little to no results, it was an unfortunate necessity. The Mets needed to land Martinez to regain ‘legitimacy’ with free agents, fans, and players in the clubhouse.

Was Pedro a bust for the Mets? Nope.
