FullCountPitch.com is proud to announce that Rick Peterson, famed former pitching coach of the Oakland A’s and New York Mets, will be a regular contributor here at FCP. Mr. Peterson will be discussing the art of pitching from the amateur level to the Major Leagues.
Twice a month, Mr. Peterson will share his vast knowledge about pitching philosophy, current trends in baseball, developing pitchers, injury prevention for pitchers, and a host of other topics. The series will also focus on the youth amateur market to serve as a guideline for parents and young pitchers in developing young, healthy pitchers. During the 2009 season, we will also discuss pitching issues around the league and shed some light as to why certain decisions are made throughout the professional game. The goal of the series is to give fans a better understanding of the different facets of pitching.
This is obviously a seminal moment in the history of FullCountPitch.com as we all get firsthand knowledge from one of the best pitching coaches and pitching minds in the game today. It is unprecedented access that few baseball sites can offer.
On a personal note, I can tell you that after spending two hours on the phone with Coach Peterson, we are going to be in for quite an experience. He is a genuine person with a passion for the game of baseball and a desire to share his experience to help others. In our short time together, I have already learned so much about pitching, baseball, and some life lessons. I am grateful for the opportunity to speak with such learned, positive individual.
The first in the series will tentatively debut on Friday January 16, 2009 (or on Monday the 19th) with a feature article giving fans an inside look at the major league pitcher in the areas of pitch count, getting ahead, and proper makeup.
An official date for the series debut will be given shortly. To learn more about Rick Peterson, visit his website, www.rick-peterson.com

I wonder when he visits us twice a month if he’ll come out to the mound, place his hands on our shoulders, look us directly in the eyes and softly deliver his message.
He’s a great guy and a great addition to the site. Congratulations!
Rick is one of the premiere pitching minds in baseball today. He combines an excellent working knowledge of the current biomechanic process and the “old-school” pitching methods.
His history of helping former A’s pitchers Tim Hudson, Barry Zito and Mark Mulder into 20 game winners can not be overlooked.
He is a tremendous addition to the fullcountpitch.com website.
Will he wear his jacket when he types? Great job, Gary!
Very impressive. Congrats! I look forward to reading his write-ups. I am a former high school pitcher and I am sure I will be able to relate to most of the topics.
This is great news. Especially important to get more info out to up-and-coming pitchers an their coaches and parents. We’re seeing so many abuses of young arms, many ending up in surgery or rehabs that any helpful info is welcome and necessary. Thanks again.
I am glad he is going to write for us, maybe he will address the issue of little leaguers throwing curve balls and damaging their rotator cuffs before they are even fully developed.
Very cool. The site is growing very nicely.
