I really hope the Twins can keep both Mauer and Morneau in Minnesota. One of the best small market franchises in all of professional sports, the Twins fans deserve to have these two superstars in their new stadium. Mauer's offensive prowess is well documented. I saw a defensive play Mauer made against the Yankees this year, where he moved far away from the plate to pick up a slow roller. Brett Gardner was on second and when Mauer drifted halfway to first base, Gardner kept going around third and headed for home. Mauer who was almost in a throwing motion to first, turned around, sprinted back to the plate, dove, and tagged out the sliding Gardner. I have to say, that in my 50 years of watching baseball, this was the best play I have ever seen made by a Catcher. Great tribute to a great player.
