Major League Baseball, World Umpires Association reach tentative agreement

Major League Baseball and the World Umpires Association (WUA) have reached a tentative new five-year collective bargaining agreement that extends through December 31, 2014, it was announced today. The agreement is subject to the ratification of the 30 Major League Clubs and the membership of the World Umpires Association. Ratification is expected to be complete by the middle of January.

Neither party will issue any comment regarding the substance of the agreement until its ratification.
